Creative Giving

A Christ Centered - Home Focused Community of Faith

Once you reach age 73, you are required to take minimum distributions (RMDs) from your individual retirement account every year. You can donate all or a portion of your RMDs, up to $100,000 a year, directly to Dilworth Lutheran Church. This is called a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). Retirees can give up to $100,000 to charity tax-free from an IRA and have it count as their required minimum distribution for the year. A qualified charitable distribution counts toward your required minimum distribution. You initiate this transaction with your broker, and the gift is sent directly to the church.

Dilworth Lutheran Church has an account at Maple River Grain and Commodities on Highway 10, outside of Glyndon. You are welcome to dump grain at the elevator. Please notify the church immediately, so that we can ensure that the grain is sold immediately and we do not pay a storage fee, 218-287-2628.

By giving appreciated stock directly to the church, you can avoid capital gains taxes and you may receive a tax deduction for making a charitable gift. The church has an account to receive stocks through Bell Bank. Please contact the church office for more information, 218-287-2628.

Our church runs well and is a joyful place because dozens of people pitch in to make it a great home for faith. Dozens of people serve here through sharing gifts-in-kind, such as mowing the lawn, plowing the church parking lots throughout the winter, and through minor construction projects. Do you want to serve and offer gifts? Please contact the church office, 218-287-2628.
